First W hotel lands in Bangkok

14 Jan 2013

Thailand’s second W Hotel opened in Bangkok recently and has already turned into one of the preferred accommodation options for visitors. The luxury establishment is the latest venture into the region by brand owner Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The W Bangkok is located beside the Sathorn and Narathiwas road junction and is close to the centre of the action in the Thai capital. Chong Nonsi Skytrain Station is just a couple of minutes walk away and gives access to greater Bangkok’s suburban transport network.

Although the W’s main building is a contemporary 31-storey skyscraper, the complex also incorporates a vintage structure that was formerly the city’s Russian diplomatic outpost. After the official opening, Starwood Asia Pacific president Stephen Ho stated that the striking glass tower was set to become a Bangkok landmark.

He added that the hotel epitomised Bangkok’s east-to-west character and offered patrons a true sense of elegance with a distinctly modern twist. Onsite guest amenities include a spa, a fitness centre, a swimming pool, several wining and dining outlets, and a business centre.

The 407 suites and rooms at the W are packed with the latest media devices and gadgets and are equipped with bespoke, chrome furniture. The first W hotel in Thailand when it opened in 2010 was the W Retreat & Spa on the southern island of Koh Samui.

The W Bangkok is the 44th in the world. The 1Stop Bangkok home page offers a link to a reservations website where people can book the W, or any other Bangkok hotel, at preferential rates.
